The article above is about the government’s plan and reason for reforming education in the United States. They feel as though investing funds in education will benefit the future success of the nation. Even though helping children catching up with standards is good, it is now more important that they try to help each child get ahead. Obama evens declares that budget and education are linked to each other because for every budget that sacrifices the children’s education, is a budget that sacrifices the country‘s future. The acts that are planned are “No Child Left Behind” and “Race to the Top.” “No Child Left Behind” is expected to close achievement gaps because it requires states to set higher standards and have better accountability through standardized testing. “Race to the Top” offers extra funding for states that shown home-grown education reforms are improving performances, which will encourage schools to higher there standards to be able to receive more funds. Both these plans are viewed as a vital part of making a better future because it encourages the reform of education.
